Make Your Own Granola Bars

My girls come home from school and run for food everyday. You would think that they had not eaten in days. We try to keep healthy snacks on hand because they do not want to wait for a snack they want something right away. They are good about snacking on fruits and vegetables but often they want something crunchy and a little bit sweet. Granola bars are a big favorite with all kids I think.
Granola bars are so simple and cheap to make. There is no reason people should be spending money buying them from the store. Plus when you make them yourself you know exactly what is in them. Do not forget that you can add other things and play around with the recipe.
Ingredients
1/2 cup soft butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup corn syrup
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 1/2 cup quick oatmeal
1 cup chocolate chips
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan. Beat
butter, sugar, and syrup until light and fluffy. Blend in egg
and vanilla. Add and mix oats and chips. Press firmly into
pan. Bake 20 to 23 minutes. Cool a couple hours. Cut.
