Labor Day
The last big weekend before school starts. What is it all about though? Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
During all your weekend fun make sure to find ways to talk with them about the future. You can discuss what types of careers are out there and what they might want to do when they grow up. This is a great opportunity to have meaningful conversations with your kids. Younger kids can have fun finding things around the house that will help them pretend and try out some careers. They can pretend to be firemen, police officers, postal workers, doctors, bakers, and teachers. They can pretend to do anything.
